Understanding the capabilities of ICT tools for searching, annotation and analysis of audio-visual media

The ICT4AV project’s goal is to survey the tools, technologies, and research being explored by technologists, and to collect the needs and requirements of humanities researchers. The domains are time-based multimedia: primarily music, speech, and video. Much of the project’s dissemination is being performed in the open; we are collecting data and immediately publishing it as a weblog, which has some interesting side effects. Our plan for phase two of the project is to approach openminded researchers and conduct directed interviews about their needs, from a requirements engineering point of view.
